A United Caribbean at the Forefront of Peace

Advocating for peace in the Caribbean.

The Coalition of Caribbean Leaders for Peace was informally established in 2019, after Caribbean leaders gathered in Washington, D.C. to discuss peace initiatives and ways to strengthen peaceful relations within the Caribbean and internationally.

Through this gathering, the coalition formed and CCLP now works to promote the rule of law and the importance of peace reinforced in international law by advocating the adoption of measures ensuring peace in national constitutions and monitoring election campaigns; preventing violence through leveraging the power of civil society; and spreading the culture of peace by building peace literacy among the region’s youth and connecting them to international leaders and global society.

Our Mission

Recalling the spirit of the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the CCLP works toward the ultimate objective of overcoming the adverse consequences of war and building a peaceful world for the mutual development of humanity.

All States share the responsibility to protect and promote the fundamental human rights stated in existing international instruments. As such, the coalition recognizes the importance of the rule of law in developing peace by advocating the adoption of mechanisms for peace in national constitutions and educating society, especially youth, to advance a culture of peace at the same time.

“I WANT TO PLEDGE MY SUPPORT FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS, WHICH I FIND TO BE THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE LEGAL FRAMEWORK THAT WILL SERVE TO SPREAD A ZONE OF PEACE WITHIN THE CARIBBEAN REGION AND ACROSS THE WORLD.”
